Message from Drew Sanders

Hey Viper tennis parents! I hope all are well. I wanted to reach out and provide an update from the athletic department in regards to our tennis program. Obviously we all know Coach Klepper accepted another job within the district and has resigned his position here at Vandegrift HS. We wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors. This is not optimal timing in any way with the school year already starting. Usually we deal with hiring each year in the spring, giving us time to search and have the new employee begin in August.

Thankfully our asst., Coach Green, has graciously agreed to step up for the program and be acting head coach for the time being. We are so thankful to her and her sacrifice for our kids. We obviously know her passion for tennis and the program, so I have no doubt she will do great.

We are actively looking for a tennis coach to lead our program. We will update if/when we have news. Remember, that in Texas, all public school coaches, must also be certified teachers. We will continue to work hard to find the perfect person for our program. In the meantime, we will support Coach Green and help her in any way we can.

Once we have selected our head coach, we will attempt to get them to start this year, as soon as possible. If we are not able to, then Coach Green will continue in her role and we will then begin looking for an asst. We hope to have a final decision on how we are handling this year within the next few weeks.

Thanks for your patience as we work to finalize this process.

Any questions, please let me know. Since I helped begin Vandegrift HS athletics, the men and women’s tennis program has brought great pride to our school and I understand how important it is to get this right.

Thanks for all you do.

Once again, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
